Raring2go! Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire

24 An authentic taste of India in Aberdeen! After 17 years working as a pipeline consultant in Aberdeen and driven by his passion for the delicious flavours and dishes of his home country, Namaste Delhi ’ s owner Rajesh Kumar opened the doors of the Bridge Street restaurant in July 2018. His ambition was to provide a high - quality culinary experience, which is tasty and healthy based on Indian home - style recipes. After three years – and the pandemic – Namaste Delhi has become one of the go - to places in Aberdeen for authentic Indian food. Rajesh said, “ We offer an innovative concept of Indian food, skillfully translated into tapas so that people can have a taste of many flavours instead of only one dish. We aim to serve the closest version of authentic, traditional Indian homemade food to be found in the area. ” He added, “ I have a keen interest in cooking and a love of the flavours of my home, Bodh Gaya, Bihar, and I am delighted to be able to share these daily at Namaste Delhi. Our chefs share my love and passion for excellent food, excellent experience and excellent atmosphere, and they and the rest of the team provide this every day. ” Why Namaste Delhi? Rajesh explained, “ The name originates from the Indian greeting with joint hands, meaning “ God resides in you ” and Delhi, the bustling capital of India. Our food takes inspiration from the Delhi Street food. The traditional spices of Delhi take you back to the past centuries when the city was governed by the Rajputs, Mughals, Afghanis, to name a few. Due to these influences, Delhi is today a melting pot of cultures, and these differences are skillfully blended in the incredible food India boasts today. ” During the pandemic, the team adapted. Rajesh said, “ We provide excellent in - house dining experience and now also takeaway and home delivery service to those who want to enjoy our food in the comfort of their home. Traditionally cooked, our food stands out as authentic as cooked at home or on the busy streets of the organised chaos of Indian cities. The aim is to bring the real India to the table, not only to promote food but also to replicate the Indian social perspective of collectively sharing food with family and friends. ” In addition to the traditional homemade food, Namaste Delhi offer a wide range of innovative services such as cooking and cocktail classes and a special afternoon tea with an Indian twist and Rajesh and his team look forward to welcoming people to Namaste Delhi to enjoy the “ Taste of India ”. They invite Raring2go! readers to experience this for themselves with a special offer of two courses with rice or naan for two for only £39.95 (not available in December).
