There are weeks to fill and keeping the kids entertained can be a challenge. There will inevitably be occasions when all of us hear the words “I’m Bored”. So why not try this neat little trick to ensure that there is always an activity at hand. Find a jar. I use a Kilner jar but an old jam jar, bowl or even a cup will do. Just as long as you can put in as many activities as you need. Mine are all written on pieces of colourful card, but lolly sticks work just as well. Whenever boredom strikes, the kids have to dip in and pick an activity. I like to mix it up, so I include some chores or favours such as watering the plants and picking five toys to give away. Here are some suggested activities to get you started. However, you can fill your Bored Jar with whatever you want – ultimately it has to entertain your kids. Obviously, I keep my fingers crossed that ‘Make Mum a cup of tea’ gets picked every time! The only thing to remember is to replenish the jar with more activities and give it a good shake so that you are ready for the next time that boredom strikes. ‘Bored’ Jar Make a leaf collage Tidy your room Let’s make mini pizzas Let’s paint Visit the library Build a den inside Make a family tree Make jelly Make Mum a cup of tea
