Short Sharp Bursts Instead of overloading, keep academic time short and focused. 20 minutes every day is a good place to start! Using audio books is better than nothing. Take them to the library on a rainy day and ask them to select plenty of books, no loss if they don't like any of them. Play word games, via the internet if you like. Synonyms and antonyms are particularly useful. For maths, times tables games are good, encourage them to understand that they are 'lots of', so if they know 6x6 they can add another 6 to find 7x6. Get them to tell the analogue time and how long it is to (bedtime, lunchtime etc.). Doing little and often is much better than doing long periods.
