10 raring2go.co.uk Raring2go! Now in its eighth year, mass litter-picking campaign the Great British Spring Clean is back in 2023. Last year people up and down the entire country came together to clean up nearly half a million bags of litter. The Keep Britain Tidy event, which takes place from 17 March to 2 April, aims to encourage people across the country, from individual volunteers – dubbed #LitterHeroes by the charity – to families, schools, groups of friends, businesses, community groups and local authorities to come together to clean up streets, parks, beaches and other public spaces. This year the charity wants to encourage everybody to take pride in their area by pledging on its website to pick a bag or more of litter to help make a really huge difference to the environment. After the 2022 campaign, 85% of people who took part said they felt more pride for their local area. Now that’s a statistic to be really proud of. This year’s campaign is made possible thanks to the support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery and media partner Clear Channel, as well as supporting partners KFC, McDonald’s, Nestlé, CocaCola, Mars Wrigley and Pepsi MAX.
