Drama and dance classes provide a dynamic and supportive environment for children that helps to cultivate and boost their confidence in numerous ways. First and foremost, these classes encourage self-expression. Through improvisation, role-playing, and scripted scenes, children learn to articulate their thoughts and emotions effectively. Doing this not only enhances verbal communication skills but also allows them to explore and to understand their own feelings. And this in turn contributes to a stronger sense of self. More importantly, drama classes help nurture a positive and judgment-free atmosphere. In this creative space, children are encouraged to take risks without fear of failure or criticism. The emphasis is on the process rather than just the outcome. This promotes resilience and forms a willingness to embrace challenges. As children navigate different characters and scenarios, they begin to develop a sense of adaptability and problem-solving skills which are crucial attributes that translate into confidence across various aspects of their lives. Teamwork is another fundamental aspect of drama and dance classes. Collaborating with peers on group routines and performances helps children to learn the the importance of co-operation and mutual support. They learn to listen, that to compromise is fine and to value diverse perspectives. All of which contribute to a robust foundation for interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively with others is a key component of confidence, as children realise the value of their contributions within a group dynamic. Furthermore, the experience of performing in front of an audience, whether it's classmates, instructors or parents helps children overcome stage fright and again build self-assurance. The applause and positive feedback they will receive become affirmations of their new found capabilities, reinforcing a positive self-image. This newfound confidence extends beyond the stage and will influence academic pursuits, social interactions and many future endeavors. In essence, drama and dance classes provide a holistic platform for children to discover, explore, and celebrate their unique identities. The skills and self-assurance gained through these experiences have a lasting impact that empower them to navigate the challenges of growing up with resilience and confidence. 27 Helping children who are nervous on fireworks night Every child is unique, some like fireworks more than others and some don’t want to watch them at all which is fine. If your child is nervous around loud noises or is autistic, these are our suggested tips which may help. Explain what’s going to happen. Social or visual stories can be a great help. Let them know when they’re going, where they’re going and the different steps once you’re there. If you can include images, it will help. You can find videos of firework displays on YouTube if they have never watched a display before. Not sure where to start? Google ‘fireworks social stories’ for some ideas or Monkey World have an excellent example of a social story on their website. It’s not fireworks related but it is a great example! Go to www.monkeyworld.org, click on ‘Visit Us’ followed by ‘Disabled Facilities’ and then ‘Accessibility Guide’ to find it. Have plenty of distractions. Hungry children can become distressed children very quickly. Having snacks and drinks on hand can help, maybe even a hot chocolate on a cold night can keep children from worrying and keep their tummies happy too. Use ear defenders or ear plugs. Ear defenders obviously help with the noise, I also find that they help other people realise your child may have extra needs and give them a bit of space! If your child isn’t a fan of ear defenders (especially as they get towards the teen years) we find Loop ear plugs discreet and effective. Contact the venue If your child has a disability or condition, the venue may have a specific viewing area which might give them some extra space and help deal with the crowds. Comfy shoes! Footwear isn’t just essential for keeping little feet warm, my daughter finds the vibrations from the fireworks as off putting as the sound. Having shoes with squishy soles doesn’t elimate the issue but it can reduce it. Consider something low key at home If the noise of fireworks is a big no, maybe toasting marshmallows over a fire basket would be better, or a few sparklers, or one of our favourites is a Mystical Flame sachet that makes the flames burn different colours. (link to Mystical Flames on the QR code). THE FIREWORK CODE ALWAYS FOLLOW THE FIREWORK CODE ✷ Do not buy fireworks from UNLICENCED retailers. It sounds mad to talk about Christmas already with the summer holidays only just finished and Halloween and Bonfire night still to come but starting to plan in September can save you an awful lot of stress in December. Put your hands up, how many of you feel totally overwhelmed by the time Christmas rolls round? There is a better way – start early and set deadlines. Here are some timetabled suggestions for getting ahead of the festive fiasco: September is for planning and list making The kids are back at school, you can breathe and start to think ahead. Start making lists. Writing things down helps you mentally prepare for what’s ahead and lessens the chance of that last minute panic. Gift Lists – who do you need to buy for? What will you buy for them or consider handmade gifts save money and mean more to the recipient Christmas Cards – if you still send them, who to? Look around for cards or better still make your own Entertaining – Plan ahead who you want to spend time with and invite them now and if you plan to go out for Christmas meals book ahead. Conduct an audit of Christmas supplies so you know what you already have, like wrapping paper, sticky tape, ribbon, left over cards, gift tags and presents already bought. Start to look for what you need now whilst there is more choice and bargains can be grabbed from late summer Sales- and remember everything doesn’t have to be new. October and November are for doing – book, shop, buy, order, make, schedule and declutter. As we know Santa is very energetic and can be found in lots of different places in December, but even he gets booked up, so it pays to buy your tickets early. Likewise it pays to book your panto as soon as possible, so you get the session and seats you want and sometimes an early bird discount. Declutter toys to make space for the new ones that Santa brings. If you need smart clothes for the big day, check that everyone has an outfit. Write your cards towards the end of November, so they are ready to send out December 1st. Wrap the gifts as you go to save the nightmare that is Christmas Eve otherwise but remember to keep a list of what you have got for everyone! Christmas Fairs and markets are ideal for that unique, handmade gift. Keep an eye on the Raring2go website, as we will be listing them in the What’s On section as soon as we hear about them. And relax, December is for enjoying. Decorate the tree. Spend time with the kids. Enjoy the school plays, watch movies together and quietly congratulate yourself for a job well done! Get Ahead for Christmas Start planning now and remove all the stress

Encouraging entrepreneurial potential in children under 12 could be the cornerstone of sculpting a future generation of brilliant business leaders. Here’s a brief look at how families could help to cultivate a spirit of innovation and enterprise in their children. 1. Early Seeds of Creativity: Encourage creativity in your young ones through hands-on activities that fuel imagination and help to develop out-of-the-box thinking skills. 2. Entrepreneurial Icons Unveiled: Introduce them to inspiring entrepreneurs and share stories of their success stories to ignite their own passion for business ventures. 3. Financial Literacy from Day One: Instil basic financial concepts, laying a foundation for responsible money management, savings and an appreciation for value. 4. Family Business Ventures: Think about initiating a small family business project and allowing your children to experience the dynamic world of entrepreneurship within the comfort and safety of home. 5. Real-World Problem-Solving: Present them with real-life challenges, promoting resilience and adaptability - two core attributes of successful business leaders. 6. Teamwork Triumphs: Encourage collaborative ventures among siblings or friends which will help essential teamwork and communication skills emerge. Both of which are vital for business success. 7. E-Commerce Exploration: Dive into the realm of e-commerce together and establish online platforms to showcase and sell homemade crafts or child-friendly products. They have to start somewhere.... everyone does! 8. Mini Market Day Extravaganza: Organise mini-market days at home. Empower children to set up stalls, sell homemade goods, and provide services. This will be a fun and fully hands-on experience that will do them good. 9. Digital Dexterity: Introduce age-appropriate technology tools that will showcase how some digital platforms can be harnessed for business growth and innovation. 10. Applauding Milestones: Celebrate every small achievement, no matter how small. Reinforce the idea that dedication, creativity and resilience lead to triumph in the business world. The start point of the journey that could see the ‘birth’ of the next great entrepreneur begins within the nurturing confines of family life. By encouraging that entrepreneurial spirit through creativity, financial literacy, collaborative ventures and celebrating small victories, parents lay the foundations for a future where their children not only embrace business challenges but perhaps also conquer them. They’ll do so with innovation and determination. The seeds planted today will grow into the towering and mighty oak trees of tomorrow’s business landscape. Empowering Tomorrow's Titans: Helping to creating the next generation of Entrepreneurs

With rising costs, everyone is feeling the pinch. But for those on low income the last year has been like no other. Will you help a child from falling further behind at school? With rising costs, everyone is feeling the pinch. But for those on low income the last year has been like no other. As a result school absenteeism is on the rise. The costs associated with going to school are becoming a ‘luxury’ some families simply don’t feel they can afford. That’s where Buttle UK comes in. We pay for things for that parents and carers cannot otherwise afford, but help children stay in education. Like school uniform, a laptop to do homework, or even something as basic as a bed for a child to get a proper night’s sleep so they can concentrate better in the classroom. Just £25 will make a huge difference in paying for these things and means another vulnerable child will stay engaged with their education.
