Raring2go! Bournemouth

19 Raring2go! PLACES TO GO Fiendishly fun trick or treat at Science Spooktacular this Autumn at Winchester Science Centre Free trick or treat trail and monster mini disco this October It’s trick or treat season this October at the Science Centre and we’re pulling out all the stops to make this one full of science treats at Science Spooktacular, the fifth in a series of six brand new school holiday seasons in 2023! Between Saturday 7th October and Monday 30th October, including every day in October half term, there’ll be all the usual Science Centre fun, plus even more to excite all ages, all included with admission. Families are invited to join Skully the skeleton for a fiendishly fun trick or treat trail around the Science Centre. We’ll swap spooky scares for frightfully fun science facts about the perhaps not-so-creepy creatures associated with the season of frights. Visitors are also invited to ask the Inspirers for a trick or treat. Our Inspirers have a whole host of spooktacular science up their sleeves! Little monsters, witches and werewolves are invited to put on their best Halloween costumes and hit the dance floor! Every day during October half term (20th to 30th October) we’ll be hosting the mini monster disco at 4pm in Science Live. There’s even a prize for the best Halloween outfit. What are you waiting for, get your dancing shoes ready! If live science has got the kids excited, they won’t want to miss out on our free 20-minute live science show in the Science Theatre. Discover the science behind the oozes, squelches and gurgles of our digestive system in Can You Stomach It?. What happens to those tasty Halloween treats we get once they’ve been popped into our mouths? Through exciting experiments and demos, visitors will follow the slurps, squelches and squishes of our food’s digestive journey from our mouth, through the stomach, around the intestines and then out the other end! Over in the Planetarium we’ll be blasting into space. In live show, Solar System Adventure, families will start their adventure on Earth under a blanket of stars before being whisked into orbit to explore the awesome scale of the Solar System. Or how about heading off on an exhilarating journey to discover more in Galaxies, our second live Planetarium show of the season. And in subtitled film show, We Are Astronomers, Doctor Who star David Tennant narrates the story of how the world’s astronomers work together. Planetarium shows are an additional small charge. All visits must be booked in advance at: WinchesterScienceCentre.org.
