If you're lucky and very quiet you can spot Kingfishers and otters at Stour Valley Nature Reserve and Seals have been spotted on the beach at Hengistbury Head. You can also spot dinosaurs at Farmer Palmer's Farm Park!!! Animal news and facts! Look to the sky, can you identify local birds of prey? The three easiest birds to spot are Kestrels, Buzzards and Red Kites. Buzzards and Red Kites can be seen soaring in the summer skies as the warm air (thermals) helps them rise high. Buzzards and Red Kites are both large birds but are easy to tell apart when they’re flying due to the Kite’s forked tail. Kestrels fly lower, are smaller and easy to spot on the wing as they are amazing at hovering in the same spot as they watch the ground to find their dinner. Welcoming Marwell's Clouded Leopards Marwell Zoo is thrilled to announce the arrival of a sibling pair of vulnerable Clouded Leopards to the zoo called Taevey and Kanya. Clouded leopards are incredibly cool, they can purr but can’t roar. Despite their small stature, their feeding, stalking and grooming behaviour is much like that of their big cat relatives. They can also open their mouths up to 100 degrees thanks to their unique skull structure, which is similar to that of a primitive sabre-toothed cat!
