Halloween recipes Halloween is a great excuse for some family fun! How about planning a little celebration at home with some fun spooky treats. Pop back under the grill to melt the cheese Cheese Straw Broomsticks Ingredients • 8 long thin breadsticks • 8 x 20g pieces string cheese, halved crossways • chives, to garnish Method 1. Snap the breadsticks in half, push a string cheese half onto the end of a breadstick half so it’s inserted about 1cm into it. 2. Pull apart the ends of the string cheese, pulling the strings of cheese up to about twothirds of the way up. 3. To garnish, tie each with a piece of chive. Tasty Monster Mouth Treats Ingredients • Apples • Smooth Peanut Butter • Mini marshmallows or white chocolate eggs Method 1. Cut the apples into 8 thick slices 2. Spread a little peanut butter on one side of each slice of apple. 3. Place a row of marshmallows or eggs onto one slice and place another apple slice, peanut butter side down, on top of the sweets Edible Fake Blood Ingredients • 1 tbsp cornflour • 45ml cherry juice • 250g glucose syrup • red, blue and yellow food colouring gel Method 1. Mix the cornflour with 1 tbsp cherry juice, then tip the mixture into a small pan with the glucose syrup and remaining cherry juice. Heat gently over a low heat, whisking well to combine, then remove from the heat. 2. Squeeze in a generous amount of the red food colouring gel and stir well, then add a very small drop each of the blue and yellow and stir again. You are aiming for a deep red-brown blood colour.
