These easy-tomake Halloween lanterns are a quick craft project that will get your children enthused about the spooky holiday this year. You will need: • A sheet of coloured card or stiff paper - pumpkin orange, white ghosts, green Frankenstein or black bats • Scissors • Glue or sticky tape • Colouring pens or pencils • A ruler Step 1. Cut a 2cm strip from the width of your paper or card (A4 is a good size) and keep aside. Step 2. Fold the larger piece in half length-ways. Open out and draw on the face you’d like in the middle of the crease and then fold it back in half. Step 3. Draw a 2cm border line on the length of the paper at the bottom (not the fold). Now turn the paper/card round and draw lines from the fold to the line you’ve just drawn, at 2 or 3cm intervals. Cut along these lines from the crease to the border/line. Step 4. Open out your lantern and fold it width-ways, using glue or sticky tape to close the top of the lantern. Your lantern should look like this. Step 5. Use sticky tape to attach the handle. Tips: Stick on googly eyes or cut out wing shapes and stick these to the back of a black lantern to create a scary bat! Or make a green lantern with googly eyes, gappy teeth and some drawn-on scars to create your very own Frankenstein. Don’t forget to show us your makes! And you’ve finished!
