Between work pressures, financial worries, and the endless stream of advice from books, social media, and well-meaning friends, it’s normal to question whether you’re “doing it right.” For parents of deeply emotional or neurodivergent children, daily life can feel even more challenging. While there’s no such thing as a perfect parent, there are ways to reduce stress, regain perspective, and feel more confident in your parenting journey. Modern parenting brings unique pressures. Social media shows polished snapshots of other families’ lives, often leaving you feeling inadequate. Conflicting advice on sleep, nutrition, or discipline adds confusion. Work-life balance demands are high, and many parents no longer have the extended “village support” families once relied on. For children who feel deeply or are neurodivergent, routines can require extra patience and energy, leaving parents drained and questioning themselves. THE STRESS BUCKET In solution-focused hypnotherapy, I often talk about the “stress bucket.” Every challenge, worry, or emotional demand adds water: the rushed morning routine, school emails, sibling arguments, work deadlines, or sensory overload for your child. Normally, sleep helps drain the bucket, but constant stress can fill it faster than it empties. This often leads to irritability, anxiety, or guilt for snapping at your children. HOW I HELP PARENTS WITH HYPNOTHERAPY At HER Hypnotherapy, I specialise in helping parents like you reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, build resilience, and cultivate self-compassion. Solutionfocused hypnotherapy isn’t about digging into the past—it’s about noticing what’s working, building on strengths, and creating manageable steps forward. Together, we focus on realistic strategies for everyday life, whether that’s managing meltdowns, improving routines, or simply finding space to breathe. PARENTING DEEP-FEELING OR NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN Children who experience emotions intensely or process the world differently often need extra support with regulation, transitions, or advocacy. It’s easy to neglect your own wellbeing while giving everything to your child. EDUCATION At Kumon we believe every child has potential – and we’ve built a method to help them discover it. From the moment your child joins our programme, they begin work at a level where they succeed independently, so they gain confidence from day one. That early win sets them up to progress further at their own pace – not pressured, but encouraged. Our materials are designed to develop strong foundations, sharpen thinking skills and build the study-habits that stand them in good stead for the years ahead. One of the things parents tell us most often is how their child’s attitude changes: what was once “I don’t like maths” becomes “I want to try more,” and reading or English tasks shift from “get through it” to “I enjoy this.” These changes show up in school too: children often move into higher sets, and feel more willing to stretch themselves. At Kumon, you’ll find a warm, supportive environment – experienced Instructors who guide rather than do, materials that adapt to your child’s pace, and a focus on long-term growth rather than quick fixes. It’s not just about boosting scores (though many children do), it’s about giving your child a mindset: “I can work this out.” If you want to explore whether Kumon could be right for your child, we invite you to book a free assessment at one of our local centres in Frimley, Fleet or Farnborough. It’s a relaxed conversation, with no obligation – just a friendly chance to see how your child might thrive. Why not give them the support today that will help them believe in tomorrow? Are you looking for a way to give your primary-school child a confident start in both maths and English? 25

Raring2go! EDUCATION Raring2go! EDUCATION Every Child Deserves a Library: Bringing Books to Every Primary School Reading opens doors. From fairy tales to adventure stories, books spark imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Yet across England, thousands of primary school children attend schools without a permanent library, limiting their access to the books and reading spaces that can make all the difference. WHY LIBRARIES MATTER Studies show that children with regular access to books and a quiet space to read perform better academically and develop stronger language skills. Libraries encourage independent learning, foster creativity, and provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can explore new worlds at their own pace. Currently, over 1,700 primary schools in England lack a permanent library. The gap is especially pronounced in disadvantaged areas, where families may have limited access to books at home. Without access to a school library, many children miss out on early exposure to reading habits that can shape their education and future. A NATIONAL PUSH FOR CHANGE To address this, the government has pledged £10 million to ensure every primary school has a library. The initiative aims not only to provide shelves of books but also to create inviting spaces designed to inspire children to read and explore. Schools are being encouraged to involve pupils in choosing books and designing reading areas, making the library a space that truly reflects their interests and personalities. Libraries also support teachers, offering resources for lessons and helping to integrate reading into every subject. From literacy sessions to reading clubs, libraries can become hubs of learning, creativity, and collaboration within the school. PARENTS CAN HELP TOO Parents play a key role in fostering a love of reading at home. Reading aloud to children, visiting local libraries, and discussing stories together reinforce the skills and habits learned at school. Encouraging regular reading time—even just 15 minutes a day—can transform a child’s literacy journey. WHY IT MATTERS Ensuring that every primary school has a library is about more than books on shelves—it’s about opportunity. Every child deserves access to reading spaces, stories that spark their imagination, and the chance to develop essential literacy skills. A library in every school means every child has the tools to succeed, explore, and dream big. TOP 5 TIPS TO ENCOURAGE READING AT HOME 1. Set aside daily reading time – Even 10–15 minutes makes a difference. 2. Visit your local library – Let children choose books that interest them. 3. Read together – Take turns reading aloud to make it fun and interactive. 4. Create a cosy reading space – A quiet corner can make reading feel special. 5. Talk about stories – Ask questions about characters and plots to encourage comprehension. 100 YEARS OF... 6 FEB 2026 JUNIOR SCHOOL OPEN MORNING AN OPEN MORNING JOIN US FOR keeping their curiosity alive CO-ED | 3 TO 18 | FARNHAM, SURREY A DAY & BOARDING SCHOOL 26 raring2go.co.uk 27
