Raring2go! Chorley & Leyland

An afternoon in the life of a musician. 1.00pm: My first student this afternoon is training for an audition, so we launched straight into his song which is a few bars of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman. He is really connecting with the character and the story when he is singing, but he’s struggling a little with a few of the high notes so we did some exercises before trying that bit again. He felt much better so let’s cross our fingers for his audition! 2.00pm: It is my next student’s very first lesson today and the before we do anything, it’s important that we get to know each other. She told me about an experience she had at her friends’ party when she had a go on the karaoke machine. She had so much fun she wants to learn some more. I suggested she came to choir this evening to have a go at singing something different and she said she wasn’t busy so she’ll come and give it a try. 3.15pm: A quick break to get my books ready for my next students. They are taking their graded exams very soon so we’ve got a lot of hard work to do. 3.30pm: The next few lessons fly by, with the studio being full of scales, studies and beautiful exam pieces. It’s immensely satisfying to hear pieces improve so much when we are working towards examinations. 5.30pm: Enough time to grab tea before getting ready for tonight’s choir rehearsal. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone and showing them the new piece I’ve chosen for them to sing. Raring2go! CLUBS & CLASSES 16
