Monday 14th April London Bus Museum Spring Gathering 2024 at Brooklands Museum The South East’s biggest, longest-running and best-loved bus show is back and will be a fabulous day out for families and transport enthusiasts alike. The show is expected to attract around 100 visiting buses and coaches, old and new, from London and all over the UK. For the family, there are the bus excursions and two free circular service routes to ride, children’s activities and more. All the Brooklands Museum attractions and displays will be open including cars, motorbikes, bicycles and aircraft. Friday 19th - Sunday 21st April Zog and The Flying Doctors - Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford Based on the book by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler, Zog, super keen student turned air-ambulance, still lands with a bang-crash-thump. Together with his Flying Doctor crew, Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout, they tend to a sunburnt mermaid, a unicorn with one too many horns and a lion with the flu. However, Pearl’s uncle, the King, has other ideas about whether princesses should be doctors, and she’s soon locked up in the castle back in a crown and a silly frilly dress! We Can Save The Planet - G Live, Guildford A new live comedy show from James Campbell for children age 6-11 that’s perfect for anyone who wants to swap being an Eco Worrier for being an Eco Warrior. Based around his latest book Don’t Panic! We CAN Save The Planet is a unique eco comedy stand up show in which children’s comedian and author James Campbell inspires children to do something about the climate crisis, pollution and ducks with swords. Tuesday 7th - Sunday 12th May The Wizard of Oz - New Victoria Theatre Woking Direct from The London Palladium, the sensational new production of one of the world’s most beloved musicals comes to Woking. Saturday 11th & 12th May Village at War Weekend - Rural Life Living Museum May, 1944. Allied troops amass in the towns and villages of the South of England in preparation for the largest amphibious landing of troops the world has ever seen. Tilford, a Village at War is one of the premier second world war re-enactment events in the UK and the Rural Life Museum is pleased and proud to host this outstanding event once again in 2024.The day begins and ends with the colours ceremony on the village green, visitors explore the military encampments, visit the control room, witness bomb disposal, learn about rationing and the war on the home front and experience the chaos of an air raid. Don’t forget to drop into the Frensham dance hall and take a turn round the dance floor! Sleeping Beauty is a classic fairy tale that tells the story of a beautiful princess who falls under a curse from an evil fairy. According to the curse, the princess would prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel on her 18th birthday and would die. A good fairy, however, intervenes and alters the curse, stating that the princess will instead sleep for 100 years and can only be awakened by true love’s kiss.
