2 raring2go.co.uk Raring2go! WELCOME Welcome to Autumn Despite what was a mild September, it’s increasingly apparent that the summer is well and truly over. Autumn was never my favourite time of year, but last year I read that if there’s a season you don’t like, focusing on the little things you DO enjoy about it can really help. Apparently we need to embrace those little things at every opportunity. I tried it last autumn and must say, it really helped. So, with that in mind, let’s look forward to frosty mornings, cosy evenings by the fire, and snuggling up with a hot chocolate while planning for half term...and Christmas! Hopefully this edition will help ease you (and I) into it gently! Planning some fun activities can only help lift our mood. This edition is full of local suggestions, and has a jam-packed what’s on guide. All events listed were correct at time of going to press, but do check before heading to them as things can and do change. A massive thank you to all the businesses you will see in this edition. They are all providing fantastic events and activities for local families, there certainly is something for everyone. Several are offering some great money saving offers - see the round up at the top of the page. And please remember them when planning your Christmas shopping - supporting local is beneficial to us all and helps ensure we keep the fantastic choice we do have. Wishing you all a wonderful half term, and a very merry Christmas. See you in 2027! Pauline x Appear in the next edition, out in January. Buying locally also reduces our Christmas shopping carbon footprint, making it a far more environmentally friendly choice too! Local markets and Christmas fairs are well worth a visit for gifts … and food! You can browse a wide range of goods from local makers and bakers at the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre, which takes place from 3rd to 6th December, while Hereford Christmas markets are held on Fridays and Sundays throughout December. Hereford Cathedral hosts one of our favourite Christmas Fairs - December 12th is already in our diaries! The shop at The Courtyard in Hereford is a great source of beautiful and unusual gifts created by a range of local artisans and is open from 10am – 8pm every day except Sundays. If you are unsure what to buy but still want to support local businesses, many offer gift vouchers which can be spent in the January sales! The only challenge is buying gift vouchers for shops you know your loved ones would like to buy from. For those in Hereford, it’s easier with the Hereford Gift Card which can be spent at over 130 local businesses. You can upload When we choose to buy from local independent businesses and shops, we invest directly in the communities our children are growing up in.

Rather than buying ‘things’ which can add to clutter, and often end up in landfill, another option is the gift of an experience. Memories are cherished for a lifetime, so what better gift for a loved one? Here are some of our favourites offering gift vouchers: Worcester Theatres and The Courtyard in Hereford hold a huge variety of shows and events for all ages, and who doesn’t love a trip to the theatre? Ralph Court Gardens has 15 unique and amazing gardens to explore, including Alice in Wonderland and Dinosaur World, and is loved by everyone who visits. Rather than buying individual gifts for children and their parents, why not treat the family to a fabulous day out? Escape Quests in Ross on Wye offer gift vouchers too. Perfect for family fun, or a group of friends, your loved ones will have the best time trying to crack the Norse Code, Saving Sugarvale, helping Santa find his marbles, or beating their Restaurant Rivals. It’s a great alternative Christmas party option too! For the adrenaline and adventure seekers out there, we recommend gift vouchers for Oaker Wood Leisure in Herefordshire. You can choose vouchers for a private quad trekking session, an Escape Room, private clay shooting for ages 16+, or a children’s activity day voucher for a full day of fun and adventure. For thrill-seekers in Worcestershire, Aztec Adventure at the Lost Valley in Evesham offers heart-pumping high ropes and a fabulous themed 18hole adventure golf course, while their centre at Upton Warren has a choice of water-based fun activities. Their awesome aqua park with giant inflatables and epic wipe outs offers non-stop laughs, and your loved ones can enjoy the lake on stand-up paddleboards, pedal boats or kayaks.
