It showed me what it would be like to go to school in a country when I cannot speak the language and how difficult it must be for non-English speakers. I couldn’t put this book down! It tells the story of two girls - one who is a non-English speaker from Catalan who moves to Scotland and the other - a girl who has selective mutism. My favourite thing about this book is the way it is written - it is structured really well, representing what it feels like to not understand the language with squiggly lines ~~~~~ as if it is just all mumbled jumbled up words coming out because she is not English.
