17 Raring2go! CLUBS & CLASSES Over the past 20 years, my professional career has been a journey of discovery, of learning and evolving. My path has taken me from the corporate world as a Banking Lawyer, to retraining as a Learning and Development professional; before becoming a Mother and finding my focus as a Yoga Teacher working with children, families, schools and nurseries. I came to realise we need to understand and live the true meaning of yoga, the meaning of union. We need to re-build our unions, our connections. For the last 7 years, I’ve been facilitating, guiding and sharing the ancient wisdoms of yoga in a way that’s relevant to today’s society by working with families, from pre-natal and post-natal Mums, Babies, Toddlers, Pre-Schoolers, Children, and Teens. Research supports the science behind this 5,000-year-old practice which has numerous benefits for adults and children, including: With two girls of my own, my particular interest is working with girls and over the last 3 years I’ve been running Mum & Daughter classes. This has led me to recognise that girls approaching puberty and into their teenage years would benefit from a different type of support. They need some space to be themselves, to express themselves. So, from September 2021, I will launch ‘Girls Circles’ for different age groups, where small communities offer mutual support, so girls can: 1. Develop self-awareness of their bodies, thoughts and emotions 2 B lf d t b Ɠ d t d ti ith t f h . ecome se -empowere , o e con en an asser ve, w ou ear or s ame 3. Learn tools for self-regulation, through yoga, mindfulness and wellbeing As the saying goes, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’; we can’t change the world in a day, although we can create change by supporting one girl at a time. If you’re interested in any of my classes for Nurseries, Schools, Family Yoga, Mumand Daughter Yoga and/or Girls Circles, I look forward to hearing fromyou.
