21 Raring2go! HEALTH AND WELLBEING Keeping the family healthy this Autumn As the colder months approach there often seems to be more bugs around and it can feel harder to keep active. We've asked some local experts for their top tips to improve your family's health and wellbeing at this time of year... "Every day, 7 drinks and 7 wees gives your bladder lots of ease!" Cheryl, Pee Paediatric Services "Try and keep as active as possible as we head into the colder months. It's recommended that children aged 5-18 do at least 60 minutes of moderate-vigorous activity across the week and 2-3 sessions of muscle strengthening exercise e.g. gymnastics/football/martial arts. It can be harder to get out and about when it's cold and wet but as Joe Wicks's says "You never regret a workout!" "Preschoolers need to be active for at least 3 hours a day so trips to the park, reducing time in prams, soft play, swimming and all the super activities and playgroups listed in Raring2go are great opportunities to get them moving and help them develop strength, coordination and balance." Sophie, Manchester Children's Physiotherapy "Find some fabulous outdoor activities to do no matter the weather. You can do autumn scavenger hunts to include conkers and all the different coloured leaves, you can explore new places and notice the differences in the trees as they change, bike rides in the crisp autumn mornings crunching through the leaves or even go puddle jumping. As they say, there’s no bad weather, just bad clothing! So wrap up, grab the wellies and have a great time exploring." Becca, These Mums Do Fitness
