Challengers is an independent charity that gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to play in a safe and supportive environment. Each year, they support around 1,000 children aged 2-18 at their inclusive Pre-schools, Play and Youth schemes across the South East of England. The power of play Play is vital for every child’s happiness and development, but sadly too many disabled young people miss out Bringing the joy of play to everyone on it every day. Challengers provide truly inclusive play opportunities that everyone can join in with and enjoy. Supporting families For many families, Challengers is a lifeline that they simply wouldn’t be able to cope without. While the smiles speak for themselves, parents often say how much their children love going to Challengers and how it benefits their family. Mum of 9-year-old Eleanor, said: “So many disabled children, like mine, will never get invited to parties or play dates. Challengers might be all they have, so it’s impossible to stress enough what a vital part of their lives it is” How can I help? • The quickest and easiest way to help is by making a one-off or regular donation to Challengers. Anything you can give will make a huge difference to the people they support. • Looking for some fun plans this summer? Challengers have a range of family-friendly events and fundraisers coming up which you can get involved with, including the Wood Street Jazz Festival in July and the Twilight Runway Challenge in September! • If you’re not able to give, how about offering your time?
