Fire eaters/jugglers, Viking drummers, Late night rides, DJ party,Live shows,Themed food & drink. 16 & 17 Sept - 1940s Weekend (The Trolleybus Museum) – Wallow in the nostalgia of the wartime years of Glenn Miller, the Andrews Sisters and the jitterbug at the Trolleybus Museum 1940’s Weekend. As well as rides on our trolleybuses that were in service during the 1940’s we’ll have all our usual attractions, a Toy Museum, replica Cycle Shop museum, pre-fab home, Lecture Theatre and Exhibition Centre. 23 Sept - Under 5s sensory play: Call the fire brigade! (National Emergency Museum) – In this session you will become a firefighter, make your own fire helmet, and help to put out fires with an extinguisher and hose. Create your own group work of art with wheels and paint, sing about the wheels on the fire truck, hear the fire engine and see the lights. We’ll also learn about how to stay safe when there is a fire and what number to call. 30 Sept & 1 Oct - Blues & Twos Weekend (The Trolleybus Museum) - “Blues” are the blue flashing lights and “Twos” the twotone horns on fire engines, ambulances and police cars! There will be a fascinating display of retired vehicles from all the services, and during the two days the team will give demonstrations of fire and rescue procedures – often involving smoke bombs and large volumes of water! 1 Oct - Caphouse Creators (National Coal Mining Museum) - (11am-12pm & 2pm-3pm) - 7-12 year olds are invited to get creative at our hands-on club, working with authentic materials to learn practical techniques! Learn traditional handbuilding techniques to create a personalised ceramic cup. £5 per child. On now until 1 Oct - Rescue! (National Coal Mining Museum) - Are you brave? Are you strong? Can you fit in tight spaces? Would you join a team of extraordinary men and women, working in extraordinary conditions to save lives. See how mine operators continued to learn from mining disasters to create a robust Mines Rescue service with state-of-theart equipment that is still in operation today. 5 Oct - 5 Nov - Halloween at Drayton Manor – Spooktacular fun with live entertainment, terrific Halloween trails, and your favourite rides and attractions. 15 Oct - Isle of Axholme Running Day (The Trolleybus Museum) - The Isle of Axholme Running Day is a fun day out which showcases vintage motorbuses, which will operate a network of free services around the local area. In addition to the Museum’s usual attractions, which include a Toy Museum, replica Cycle Shop museum, pre-fab home, Lecture Theatre and Exhibition Centre there’ll also be a display of visiting vintage and classic car, lorries, buses and bicycles. A transport flea market, selling books, magazines, photos and other ephemera is held in the main Museum depot. Tand cold sandwiches, light meals, cakes and drinks – all at reasonable prices.
