Big Screen, at Watford Town Centre 24th – 30th July After a three year break, the Big Screen is coming back to the town centre this Summer. Deckchairs will be available, but you are also welcome to bring your own chairs, pack a picnic and head to the town centre then just sit back and relax whilst watching some old favourites alongside new blockbusters. Dragons and Mythical Beasts, at Alban Arena 28th – 30th July Calling all brave heroes! Enter into a magical world of myths and legends in this fantastical new interactive show for all the family. Unveil a myriad of dark secrets and come face to face with some of the most magnificent monsters and terrifying beasts ever to walk the earth. Take your place among legendary heroes, just don’t wake the Dragon… Big Jiveswing, at Cassiobury Park Bandstand 30th July The Big JiveSwing Festival is one of the UK’s largest FREE Jazz Festivals. It’s a great family day out with live cabarets, dance classes for children and adults and a vintage photo booth. This year there will be a children’s area with bouncy castle, merry go round, ice cream, popcorn, candyfloss and more. There will also be a variety of food and drink vendors on site and there will also be vintage stalls on the day. The Wizard of Oz by Immersion Theatre, at Hatfi eld Park 31st July You are invited to click your heels and ease on down the yellow brick road as Immersion Theatre proudly presents a brand-new adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, a magical family show guaranteed to have you in stitches from beginning to end! With lashings of audience participation, dazzling costumes, an original script, and plenty of laughter, this faithful re-telling promises to have you shouting, clapping and singing along to a host of brand-new songs as Immersion Theatre presents a fantastic treat for all the family. AUGUST Big Wild Sleepout, at RSPB Rye Meads 11th August The Big Wild Sleep Out is a unique opportunity for families to spend a night out in the wild! Join in for a night camping under the stars and connect with nature as the nocturnal wildlife awakens on the reserve. Arriving late in the afternoon there will be time to pitch your tent and some arts and crafts activities before heading out for pond dipping. After dinner, have a walk around the reserve with bat detectors as the sun sets and learn all about the nocturnal wildlife of Rye Meads.
